Restaurant Name: Effingut Brewerkz, World Trade Center, Kharadi, Pune
Date of Visit: 17th September 2017
An exclusive #FoodProwl (http://www.foodprowl.com/) food tasting event 🙂
I guess, for any beer lover in Pune, Effingut needs no introduction also writing a review might be trivial. Introduction to Effingut’s new outlet at Kharadi might be the only salutary information that can really be added, for the sake of information.
Effingut@Kharadi is the latest addition in the Effingut Brewerkz family, making the today count to 3. Of the other two namely the one at Koregaon Park and the other at Baner, the later has been my favorite and frequently visited outlet, the only and major motivation for-so being the ambiance and space comfort at the Baner outlet. Koregaon park, for my personal comfort was a little cramped for space. Post the no-liquor serving fiasco at the Baner outlet was left aghast. But wholehearted thanks to Manu Gulati for coming up with their Kharadi outlet in the meanwhile, now I can breathe a sigh of relief. Definitely the place at Kharadi looks bigger, if not larger than the one at Baner, as well as a great ambiance with both indoor as well as outdoor seating, which is definitely bigger than the one at Baner, available and yes, the major factor much closer saving much of traveling time which can be invested in beer. With the theme remaining the same, the decor doesn’t really alters much between the Effingut outlets.
Amongst all the wall-art-quotes, this one in particular seemed a little sarcastic 😀
Albeit, the FoodProwl food-tasting policy strictly adheres to no-alcohol as a thumb rule, but visiting Effingut and not having their Brews is a Sin 😉 So let the testers, for the sake of formality, and the beer come in 😀 For the first time, I saw 10 beers on the tap !
Hefeweizen at stills remains my favorite and mandatory brew at Effingut. The other brews that I liked that day was the Coffee Stout, which I had for the first time and recommended probably for coffee lovers and the Peach Ginger which I always like only to taste.
As usual and expected, the food served at Effingut was spot-on. The quality and consistency of food on the offer at all the Effingut outlets should be utmost matter of pride for Chef Nitin. Kathi rolls, both veg and non-veg, are the special edition to the Effingut@Kharadi outlet menu.
The panko crusted Crispy Chicken Bites were indeed perfectly crisp and went well with the piri piri dip.
The Spring Rolls, both veg and non-veg, served with hot garlic dip, were prepared to perfection. Even the Veg Spring Rolls were so delicious that one would really miss meat being absent. Way to go chef. Difficult to differentiate the two even in the pictures, I just managed to recognize them primarily because of the time-delay in between the two servings, reflected in the file names 😉
I had always been a fan of Nachos, be it veg or non-veg. served at Effingut. Tried their Loaded BBQ Potatoes for the first time. The in-house BBQ Sauce used with the potatoes fries is bang on target when it comes to infused flavors. Add Cheddar Cheese and the serving becomes colorful and appealing, not to forget the substantial portion size of the serving.
Threaded Cottage Cheese, marinated cottage cheese wrapped in crispy threaded casing, absolutely stands out to be a gusto killer. Very crunchy and a must have starter, but considering the portion served and it being an appetite killer you need more members to share and enjoy it to the core.
Golden Fried Prawns, from the sea-food section, served with samba sauce was again an excellently done. Batter Fried Prawns served on skewers made it easy to eat.
Tequila, Lime & Thyme Prawns, one of the definite stars of the afternoon both in terms of preparation as well as presentation. As mentioned in the description, Prawns cooked in Thyme Sauce with sublime dash of Tequila and Lime and served in Parmesan Basket and that is precisely what you get. Absolutely delicious and a must have preparation at Effingut.
Thecha Chicken Kathi Roll, chicken marinated using fiery thecha used to prepare Kathi Roll is the new addition at Effingut Kharadi outlet. Chef Nitin told us that, on basis of customers feedback, the spice level of Thecha has been reduced to an extent with reference to what it was when initially launched. Yet the thecha sensation is retained on the taste buds with all the essential flavors, whilst not setting the tongue on fire. Wonder what that was initially and thanks to all those out there for saving my tongue 😉 Absolutely mind-blowing !
Quattro Formaggio Pizza, prepared with a blend of four cheeses namely Orange Cheddar, Parmesan, Scamorza and Mozzarella, was excellently done as well. Nothing to complain or elaborate about it, simply superb.
But ultimate ambrosial was the Pulled Pork & Bacon Pizza. Slow cook Pulled Pork and crispy Bacon with Orange Cheddar and Mozzarella cheese. Take a bow chef for such an allured encounter with Pork and Bacon. A must have for Pork lovers.
For the desserts, the Hazelnut Cheesecake was simply mouth-savory , although when at Effingut, by default, my first and last choice is their Sizzling Brownie with Ice-cream.
Hefeweizen Banana Trifle, creamy, layered Banana Trifle infused with Effingut’s award winning and my personal favorite – Hefeweizen. What more can I ask for !!!
Although, Manu Gulati, wasn’t able to attend the food-tasting event, which otherwise he prefers to host personally, hospitality offered by both Sanika Kelkar and Chef Nitin was commendable.
The afternoon experience with amazing brews and food on the offer at Effingut was supplemented further by splendid live music performance by Swaroop from Nu-Edge. The review would have been incomplete and more so unfair without mentioning the live performance. With the range of songs played and with the energy brought in and the crowd attention that he managed to drew, hats-off to Swaroop, otherwise at most places the live performances just go unnoticed. Wish I could upload a video to justify myself !!!
Anytime of any-day I visit Effingut, the place never disappoints, contrary it always justifies it’s name and turns out to be – Fucking Good !!!
