Masterclass with Chef Christopher Koetke – Invitational Event held on 12th September 2015 at JW Marriott Pune.
To being with, it is not a review. The intent is to share a brainstorming culinary session that we had with Chef Christopher Koetke.
To introduce, Christopher Koetke is the Vice President of the Kendall College School of Culinary Arts in Chicago. He is better known for his television show ‘Lets Dish’ and his award winning culinary instruction textbook ‘The Culinary Professional’ in the US. Indeed a very dynamic and charismatic person he is.
In the session that lasted for 90 odd minutes, Christopher gave us a virtual walk-through of the 4 years culinary course at Kendall College !!! Right from the basics of selecting knife, to handling it properly, to how to cut using the knife, to acquiring precision and then speed as well as consistency, of-course without hurting your fingers to advanced levels of cooking, using various ingredients, decorating the serving, etc. Oh my GOD, gosshhhh there is so much to cooking than just cooking…. Still long way to go …. It an absolute art…. I knew it, but the perception became even stronger.
It was very interactive as well as involved session from the word go till the very end. Just like a suspense-thriller, you never knew what’s coming next. During the master class he cooked five odd recipes which I have scanned and shared in the uploaded media files. Everything he cooked was just perfect. I might surely be called a nincompoop if I try to review his food, so I am not going to even try doing it…
Post the class we had lunch together with the Chef where he shared about his various food experiences that he had in India. The first best-food award went to Kareem’s Delhi, which striked to him first. So you know now, one should not give this place a miss, if in Delhi. He is a very down to earth and humble person.
It was an absolute pleasure to share some quality time with Chef Christopher Koetke and his recipes. Definitely a moment to cherish till eternity…
The most important lesson learned, whenever you attend a Chef’s Masterclass, the most important as well as frequent term to be used – ‘YES CHEF !!!’ 🙂
Last but not the least, thanks to ReachOutPR team for providing what I can surely refer to as a once in a lifetime opportunity.
